A More Intimate Look at the Future

As I consolidate my email lists by purging old addresses, my real goal is to engage with those who truly wish to engage with me. If you are reading my blog, you are already at least half-way there. And I\’m truly glad you are here.

I want to provide you with a more intimate look at the future through these messages.

As I approach my 59th birthday this May, and my 28th year of doing business online this July, I more than ever want to make sure that I\’m bringing value to those who give me their most precious commodity… attention.

My approach to online communications has changed dramatically over the past few years. Some of it has been my choice and some just a result of the landscape.

Whereas I was once on the forefront of social media (even writing three popular books on Twitter, I practically left Facebook in early 2021. My reasons why are a discussion for another day.

My reach has been throttled on Twitter for years. While my account @joelcomm has over 600,000 followers and has been verified since the early days, I hardly receive any exposure. As a result, I get very little engagement.  I keep opening support tickets with Twitter hoping that Elon Musk or one of his minions will remove whatever flag is throttling me.

So social media has become way more targeted for me, as I spend most of my time on Discord, Signal, and occasionally, Telegram.

I am merely a spectator on Instagram, where I am entertained by interesting recipes, comedy, musical acts and the latest AI tools. In fact, the header image you see in this email was created in MidJourney, an AI image-creation tool that allows me to easily create more than stick figures.

I haven\’t written a book since The Fun Formula in 2017. And I don\’t plan on writing any more. More on THAT in the future, as well.

As far as \”work\” goes, I\’ve spent the last six years podcasting, speaking, broadcasting, creating and consulting in the blockchain/crypto/web3 space. And I love it.

I look back at this journey and am grateful for having had the opportunity to play in so many different sandboxes!

I\’m still playing. And I\’m always pondering what I want to do next.

It\’s true that getting older is a state-of-mind. But it\’s also a state of reality. We only have so much time to enjoy the gift of life we have been given.

When you look back on your journey so far, do you feel like it has been a single path that has had you focused on one primary thing? Or, like me, has it been a twisty-turny, rollercoaster of surprise?

Where will your journey take you next? Are you following your \”fun\”?

I\’m excited to share what I\’ve been up to and would love to hear from you. The best thing you can do to ensure that you don\’t miss anything is hop up into my email newsletter.  Click here to join for free.
