What are You Thinking?

Although it seems like it has been an eternity, Twitter has only been around for a few years. It\’s hard to believe that ten years ago no one would have had any idea what a tweet was.

In yet, in a short time Twitter has become one of the most popular sites on the web. By simply asking people \”what are you doing?\”, Twitter has engaged people to engage in 140-character soundbites.

However, the question Twitter initially asked was really just a conversation starter. The real goal of sharing what you are doing is to connect with others in some way.

And the truth is, in order to truly connect with others, we must move from doing to being. That means it\’s not just our actions that matter, but rather, how we think and feel about those actions.

It\’s not enough to tell us what you are doing on Twitter (or any social media platform for that matter). In order to true engagement to take place, it\’s best to go beyond the doing and tell us what you are experiencing as you do what you do.

In other words, how do you think and feel about what is happening?

You may be watching the news and discovering that the royal family just welcomed a new member. That\’s great. But what do you think about the child Prince? Does it matter to you?

You may be eating a wonderful meal at a local establishment, so you post a photo for all to see. That\’s fantastic. But how does it taste? Can you communicate with words something more than the picture says?

Share your life with others who follow you, but don\’t forget to infuse your tweets with opinion, thought and feeling. When you do, you\’ll find people will relate to you more and more.
