Twitter\’s Missing Link

It seems like just yesterday that I released the first edition of Twitter Power. The ubiquitous Twitter question, \”What are you doing?\” had people writing 140-character responses in droves.

At that time, I had about 5000 followers and I thought it was a large number.

The years have passed, Twitter has grown exponentially, and follower counts have multiplied. Twitter has added a number of features to make the site easier and more intuitive to use.

But it has really been third-party developers with access to Twitter\’s API that have created some amazing applications. Tweetdeck, Hootsuite and countless sites utilitizing OAuth (Twitter\’s login identification system) have added to, and improved, the functionality of Twitter.

However, with all these improvements and enhancements, Twitter is still lacking a key feature which is desperately needed in order to create a true sense of community. Due to the ridiculous amount of noise on Twitter and lackluster attempt at threading conversations, it is very challenging to nurture community. This component is what I call \”The Missing Link.\”

Well, I\’ve got some good news!

I am one of a handful of people who are privileged to now have access to a new tool which finally connects the dots and takes Twitter functionality to the next level… one which enhances the already existing tool and provides an arena in which individuals can embrace and nurture niche communities, enhancing the entire user experience.

The site is called Nestivity, and you will soon be able to create your OWN community which seemlessly integrates with the already familiar Twitter experience.

While you can\’t yet set up your own \”nest\” on Nestivity, you CAN join my community and get a feel for how it works. I believe you will want to do this so that you are ready to take advantage of creating your own space when it comes out of beta and goes public in April.

Nestivity turns your Twitter @username into a \”Nest\” for all of your followers to visit. You can think of it kindf of like a fan-page for Twitter, only better. Like I said… the missing link.

The easiest way for you to try out this great functionality is to just jump on. I have started a discussion that you can see here. Simply click the image or the link below it to join the conversation and leave your reply. It takes just a minute to authorize Nestivity with your Twitter login. Besides, you\’ll want to sign up to reserve your own Nestivity username before there is a big rush to do so.

Once you are logged in, you\’ll see many of the Twitter standards which you are accustomed to using. Replies, retweets and hashtags are fully integrated. It feels like the Twitter experience, only enhanced.Wait until you see how the conversation integrates with Twitter so easily!

I\’m excited about doors this opens up for people wanting to take their Twitter discussions further. It provides opportunity to cut through the noise and get down to more of what you really want from Twitter… true interaction.

I would think that many of you will begin to see new possibilities for how you\’ll be able to leverage Twitter for both personal and business use. If you are savvy, you\’ll get a nest started around your niche as soon as the site goes public in April. Imagine being among the first to have a Twitter-integrated community focused on health, nutrition, website design, television sitcoms, photography, foreign travel or any other number of topics.

I\’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts on Nestivity. Be sure to post on my nest and I\’ll look forward to interacting with you there!

So… If you could create a community on Twitter around a certain niche, what would you want it to be about? Click here to join the discussion!.

Go ahead and play with the features you will discover as you explore my Nestivity nest. You won\’t break anything.
