Twitter Verified My Account

A few months back, Twitter announced their Verified accounts program. Essentially, they would put a \”Verified\” badge on accounts that were deemed to be genuine. This is especially important for people with a high profile, where there are bound to be imposters.

For the past two years, I have had at LEAST seventy (70) or so imposters. Usually, they sign up with a derivative of my name, post my photo on the profile, and proceed to post marketing-related tweets. Of course, the goal is usually to trick people into thinking I am promoting a site or service. The imposter uses an affiliate link and attempts to make coin off my name.

I applied for the Verified badge when Twitter first announced the program, but I\’ve been left waiting for months.

It\’s been frustrating as I see celebrities coming on Twitter for the first time and receiving a verified badge with less than one thousand followers.

Thanks to @caroline at Twitter, that problem is solved as of today!
