Trans-Siberian Orchestra 2005

About eight years ago, a friend turned me on to the music of The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Their work can be described as bombastic and theatrical rock and roll with a distinctly classical feel created for the Christmas season.

They now have 4 CDs available, with three of them sharing a Christmas message. The other is a dark rock-opera called Beethoven\’s Last Night.

For the fourth year in a row, I went to see The Trans-Siberian Orchestra play live. It is becoming a holiday tradition.

But this year, I took the whole family!

M and I planned it a couple months ago and we totally surprised the kids. The couldn\’t figure out why we were driving 200 miles to stay somewhere for just one night. But they had a wonderful time.

As usual, the band was spectacular. The lights, lasers and pyrotechnics remind me of my younger days. And the huge smile on my daughter\’s face made it completely worthwhile.

If you haven\’t seen TSO yet, be sure to join their mailing list for news of next years tour.
