I just got up from the television set to come write this entry, abandoning the program I was watching.
I\’ve been a fan of The Apprentice since the first season. I thought Trump\’s choice of Bill Rancic as his first apprentice was solid. Since then, the show has had fewer truly qualified contestants.
I thought a new location would be an interesting twist on previous seasons, so I began watching the first episode of The Apprentice Los Angeles.
And I am thoroughly and utterly disgusted with Donald Trump.
Among the 18 contestants, there does appear to be promise.
And there are a few interesting twists this season, such as the project manager of the winning team sitting next to Trump in the boardroom while he fires someone from the losing team.
But there is one new twist that I find repulsive. And it has ruined the show for me.
These incredibly successful people are there for a job interview with The Donald. (Although why anyone who has already succeeded would want to work for Trump is beyond me… I know I wouldn\’t…)
You would expect them to be treated with some degree of respect whether they win or lose.
Not so.
The winning team gets to enjoy the reward for the task and sleep in a beautiful mansion.
The losing team?
They get to sleep outside IN A TENT!
Yes, a tent.
The kind you would camp out in.
A tent.
Unbelievable.
I was flabbergasted as Trump was sharing the bad news with the losing team.
And I thought to myself, if that were me, I would step forward and say, \”Excuse me, Mr. Trump. I am a professional and I am here for a job interview, not to be disgraced and put outside like a dog. As much as thought I wanted to work for you and your organization, if this is how you treat people, I have absolutely no desire to do so any longer. Good day.\”
Of course, none of them said so. Too bad. They would have made REAL television history and retained their dignity.
I turned to Mary, told her that I was disgusted and that I will not watch this tripe.
And so I am done with season 6 of The Apprentice 30 minutes into the first show.
What do you think?
Has Donald Trump gone too far?
Would you submit to this type of humiliation when you thought you were going for a job interview with Trump?
Combine this with Trump\’s ongoing immature war of words with Rosie O\’ Donnell (don\’t get me started), and I really am beginning to think that these people are all insane.
