Whether you have already started your online business or are still just thinking about it, ignoring reality can be an effective strategy for getting to where you want to be. Successful businesspeople are visionaries – they see themselves and their businesses a certain (successful) way, long before they have actually achieved any kind of success. You\’ve heard the saying \”Fake it \’til you make it\”? That\’s what we\’re talking about here. Here are some ways to go about it:
Create a Vision
Get specific on how you want things to be. What kind of business are you interested in running? Where will the money come from? Don\’t just focus on profitability; take the time to figure out some things you really would be excited to get involved with. Lots of times when you are stuck in a dead-end job that you hate, it is easy to get down on yourself, or to just jump into the next different thing that comes along without taking the time to evaluate if it\’s what you really want. Don\’t do that. Figure out what your ideal life and lifestyle would look like before moving on to the next step.
Work Towards Your New Reality
Unfortunately, it will take more than just a wish to make your vision a reality. You need to believe in it, definitely, but then you need to put some serious sweat equity into it. The good news is that if your vision is real enough to you, and if you have chosen the right angle or the right field, then this \”work\” shouldn\’t even feel all that much like work. More like: activity in pursuit of your dearest held dreams. But if you have a good vision, putting the structure underneath it shouldn\’t be all that hard.
See Things As They Are When Necessary
Even though this post title is \”Ignoring Reality,\” you should selectively ignore reality. Ignore it when the negative voices in your head are telling you that you can\’t possibly go from making the pittance you are now chained to someone else\’s desk to making the amount you want on your own terms. But sometimes you need to look long and hard at things as they are – so that you can better improve them. Get some critical feedback on the skills you will need to make your vision work, and don\’t let negative feedback discourage you. Instead use it to relentlessly improve yourself. So your friends think you\’re a horrible writer? Take a writing class and work on it. It\’s okay to have your head \”in the clouds\” when concocting your vision, but make sure your feet are on the ground when you are making it a reality.
Don\’t Give Up
Keep working towards your new version of reality until it is your CURRENT version of reality. With enough time and persistence, it will happen. Don\’t be afraid to fail – just make sure you learn from your mistakes and that you keep going.
