I can\’t believe I have been blogging for ten years. In that time, the word \”blog\” has become a household term. It seems like everyone and their dog has a blog.
The fact is that blogging is big business. People who have something to say to a specific audience have opportunities to share their thoughts, feelings and opinions to the masses. And if what they have to say is valuable, the social media culture causes it to go viral.
That\’s why it is more essential than ever before that you have your own blog. Whatever your unique passion, skills, talents, abilities, personality and presence, your blog is the place to share who you are, what you believe and why you believe it.
However, I\’d be lying if I didn\’t note the competitive nature of the online world. While it is important to have your own site, it\’s also important to have your content appear elsewhere online. Preferably, on a network that can provide you with additional visibility and links back to your own blog.
Now this is where I want to specifically address my female readers and you\’ll see why in a moment. (Sorry guys, but keep reading as I think you\’ll find it informative. Plus, you\’ll want to know what the girls are up to!)
Nielsen recently published a report on current state of the “blogosphere.” The analyzed data taken from 181 million blogs all over the word. Here\’s the amazing thing. As it turns out, the majority of bloggers are young women, with an age range between 18 and 34. Nielsen also discovered that one in three bloggers were mothers and that 52 percent of all bloggers were parents with children under age 18.
Do you know what this means? Yup, it\’s something that we men have always known.
Women rule the world.
Well, maybe not RULE. But women do STRONGLY influence others. And where the online world is concerned, women influence buying patterns more than men.
If you haven\’t seen my point yet, I\’ll be really clear.
If you are a woman and you are NOT blogging, it\’s time to get the ball rolling. Your voice is important and you have something to say!
But whether you are already blogging or not, I would strongly encourage you to become part of a blogging network just for women. There is at least one very successful network online already, but I just discovered that another one has launched. And when a network is fresh and new, that is the time to get in on the ground floor. Those who blog early are bound to get more attention and greater benefit from the outbound links placed on the site.
The name of the women\’s blogging network is She is Media (sheismedia.com), and it is a beautifully designed and implemented site just waiting for you to sign up and start sharing your passion with the world!
Created by a Colorado-based group, SheIsMedia.com is a community of women who seek to succeed in the performance marketing world. That means, women who want to make money online with their content.
The odds are this means you. (Unless you are a man. In that case, it doesn\’t mean you. No, you may not blog on SheIsMedia.com)
