Still Sowing the Seeds of Love

While on a nostalgic \”behind the music\” run via YouTube, I came across Tears for Fears \”Sowing the Seeds of Love\”. I remember when the album came out and the first time I saw the music video. Both were clearly a tribute to the influence of The Beatles.

How do you pull off the rhythm and lyrics of \”I Am the Walrus\” with the horns of \”Penny Lane\” and the minor-chord experimentation of just about every other Beatles song and come out the other side with a bona-fide hit that doesn\’t sound like a copycat?

They succeeded with this song. Layered in beauty and sound, with varying parts and multiple high points, this remains one of my two favorite TFF songs (with the other \”Bad Man\’s Song\” coming off the same LP).

It holds up musically, lyrically and visually (via the music video).

Go sow some seeds of love today….
